3D Printing

3D printing is a process whereby solid physical objects are created from digital three-dimensional models, in a layer-by-layer fashion. Each layer is a thin horizontal cross-section of the final object. 3D printing provides a fast and cost-effective way to build prototypes, analyse designs, and replicate items.

At Absolute 3D, we offer convenient in-house FDM and SLA printing from our Melbourne location, for models up to 300 mm x 300 mm x 300 mm in size. Our local facility reduces the waiting time normally associated with remote 3D printing services, thus minimising delays on your 3D project.

Fused Deposition Modelling is a versatile and affordable option in which our 3D printers extrude layers of molten thermoplastic to create robust models with high resistance to temperature and abrasion. This method is ideal for low cost rapid prototyping, where a smooth surface finish isn’t critical.

Stereolithography is a 3D printing technology that uses a laser to solidify a liquid photopolymer resin, creating finely detailed models layer by layer. The exceptionally high resolution means SLA printing is perfect for creating intricate components that require smooth surfaces.

And as engineering professionals, we recognise that high-performance components will often be needed during the final stages of your development process, so we also provide printing in a range of advanced materials – including metals and ceramics – through our national technology partners.

Absolute3D’s printing service can be performed in conjunction with our design and scanning services to create objects for a vast array of purposes, including:

  • Repair of damaged equipment
  • Replication of existing items
  • Creation of new designs
  • Construction of moulds
  • Arts and crafts
  • Scaling objects up or down
  • Concept modelling
  • Prototype development
